Sexual Harassment Support
|
Support and information for anyone who has experienced sexual harassment.
Please share your experience of sexual harassment or stalking, and how it has affected you and
your life.
We are interested in hearing from both males and females from anywhere in the world. We are
particularly interested in stories where there was retaliation against the complainant, backlash, or
victim blaming, and stories where steps (formal or informal) were taken to confront the harassment
and whether the outcome was satisfactory--or not. However, your situation does not have to fit any
of these. If you have been harassed, and affected by it, please share your experiences with us and
the visitors to the SHS site.
Use the form below to submit your story to SHS. Upon review, it may appear in the Stories and
Experiences area of the site.
Publish your experience:
GUIDELINES
- Please keep your story to no more than 800-900 words, if possible. (Note:
depending on the content, we will sometimes make exceptions for length,
and you can add updates later on.)
- Please use appropriate spelling, capitalization, punctuation, etc.
- Do not include exact names of people or places, though names of cities are
OK.
- Do not use unnecessary offensive language, or unnecessary graphic sexual
details.
- Please submit only experiences of sexual harassment or stalking, and the
surrounding dynamics (i.e. retaliation after a complaint, incidents of victim-
blaming, reactions of friends or family, etc.)
- SHS reserves the right to edit any story for length, language, clarity, or to
meet the guidelines, when necessary.
- Conditions under which we will not publish a story
Some hints: Avoid being overly dramatic--don't write it as if writing fiction, with lots of graphic or
dramatic descriptions. In a straight forward manner, just write what happened and the effects.
If you are having trouble expressing yourself, read over some of the pages on the main website, and
read some of the other stories. This should help you find the words.
Also, if it is going to be more than a paragraph, compose your story in a word processor, first, and
save it before submission. That way, if there is a glitch--which is very rare, but still sometimes
happens with Internet forms like this--you will still have it for resubmission.
