Very Sad, Texas

     My story began when I transferred into the department I am currently in. Once, I asked the boss to please put the tape on the calculator because I was having trouble in doing so. He comes to the front of my desk and kneels down to the level of the desk. I am watching him install the tape when out of nowhere he says, “I can still get it up.” I then look away and say nothing.

     Sexual jokes are a routine. I don’t participate nor do I gesture with laughing/smiling. It may start off as a normal conversation but my boss loves to talk sex. When it gets to sexual talk, I walk away, I look away, I get back to work. I ignore all. The Assistant loves to tell anyone that is on good terms with them how “Very Sad (me) when she came here she was sooo naive, she didn’t get any of the jokes, but now she gets some of them.” Today, when the sexual jokes/conversations start up a co-worker says “There goes Very Sad(me)she don’t want to hear it.”

     Also, I at the time of employment there was told not to mingle with the other department because all they do is sleep around. They have also said that I wouldn’t make it in the other department because the women will have me in tears every single day. So, I can’t apply into it because I am scared already.
