I caught my district manager trying to cover it up!
Tonya, Tennessee
I have been working for one of the nation’s largest retailer’s for about three years now.
Last year we got a new assistant manager who seemed to like me a bit too much, and didn’t want to take “No” for an answer. He was constantly saying inappropriate things…shooting rubber bands at my chest, and acting like he was rubbing ‘himself’ up against me. He got in my face, way too close to me, and just stood there for what felt like an eternity….I was afraid to breath out of fear that my chest/stomach would have touched him if I exhaled.
I reported him. Then he and a few friends went around saying I was a liar, that he was innocent-forgetting there are security cameras all over the store, video tape doesn’t lie :)
Even so, I caught my district manager trying to cover it up!! My case file ‘lost a little bit of weight’ between his office and the corporate office.
I filed a formal charge with HIS boss, and the EEOC. We are in the process of negotiating it all.
I still feel violated. Any victory, if there is one, will be hollow. It won’t give me this last year of my life back no matter what the outcome of it is.
In the middle of trying to settle all of this, I actually met a really nice guy I really do like, but I flinched and pushed him back…now he isn’t talking to me!! I want to work things out with him, but how? I have no idea how to start that conversation, I don’t even really want to have that conversation..
