Isn’t my employer liable?

I am 17 year-old male who works at a retail store. They just hired a new employee who is around 50-years-old.
Ever since she started she had been very crude to me and tried on a few occasions to touch my butt.
I told my employers that this was happening and they did not do anything.
Finally, she did smack my butt and I told my employer. Nothing was done.
When I was standing in a fitting room, she came into the doorway and told me that she wanted to see what was under my clothes. She said thought I had a huge penis and grabbed my front private areas.
I walked out of the room without saying anything and told the employer. I am waiting to see what happens.
Isn’t my employer liable because nothing was done to prevent the situation from happening after I had reported it?
If someone touches you in a sexual way that is called sexual battery. Sexual battery is a crime in New York state. You should report the incident to the police and see if you can get the District Attorney’s office to prosecute her. Additionally, you should file charges think about filing a sexual harssment complaint with the EEOC. http://www.eeoc.gov
If nothing is done yet i would suggest what joel stated, as well as quitting your job as a last resort, as well as telling your parents so that they can hopefully have an even greater impact on the progress. Although it may be hard to quit businesses are always looking for new employees, it shouldn’t be hard to find a new job,maybe even do some research or ask around about the business before you apply. I hope everything works out well!
Wow yours is the first story i have read about a guy getting harrassed so far, thats a big step to write what happen to you. I want to say that im sorry that this is happening to you, and want you to know that its happen to me too, the guy that was doing it to me was in his 60’s and im only 18 – turning 19 in April, I really hope somethings done for you and wish you all the luck!
