All my underwear was missing

Scared Girl, Australia

It all started a week before Christmas, about 4 yrs ago.

I had gone out and left the house in a mess. I did not notice anything was wrong until the next morning when I went to pay my rent and the money was missing.  Then I noticed my room looked a bit strange.  I realized all my underwear, clean and dirty was missing except for lacy items, one of which had been stashed under my bed and tucked into the springs.

Apart from the money, nothing else of value had been taken.  He had gotten in via the laundry door which I had unfortunately left open.

I freaked out and called the police. I made a report. It was to be one of many.

Next, this pervert stole my underwear off the washing line.  He came through the laundry window while I was home although I did not know he was in my house until I saw my washing was missing.

The police seemed useless and dismissive and even sleazy at times when asking for certain details.

One night, I felt someone at the window, watching me.  But I only saw a tiny glimpse of a sliver of a male face, not enough to describe even a feature.  Another night I saw the flash of a camera go off.   Every morning, there were footprints outside my window.

I had all my windows taped up.  I was terrified and angry.  I couldn’t sleep or eat properly.  I became ill from the fear and nightmares.

Still the police did nothing.  The stalker’s incidents had at first been 2 months apart but he started getting bolder and the police more complacent.  They said they just didn’t have any resources.

Then he tried to break in through my backdoor with a screwdriver while I was out.  His motives were clear to me…I just knew sooner or later he was going to get me.

I threatened the police that I would go to the media because I feared for my life and sanity.  They put cameras in then and the stalker came as expected. The police did not install it properly so the footage was never caught!  The stalker did not come back again for about 18 months, and the police thought it was a great achievement.

A week ago, two loud banging noises on my front door and then the rapping of knuckles on the glass…the security light goes on and no one there, except the sound of footsteps.  I am reliving the nightmare once again.

To this day, I’ve never seen his face and he is still out there. No one knows who he is.  Has anyone experienced something like this?

Please don’t give up. The police where I am from were the same way. They wouldn’t take it seriously because he hadn’t hurt me physically, but it was very clear that was where it was heading. Are there any stalking advocates near where you live? Sometimes if you get them involved the police will be more apt to do something. Log every incident, even if it is as simple as a knock on the door, log everything, and don’t feel scared about threatening the police, consider, maybe going to the government.

The police finally got involved with my situation when he was found around my house with a hammer, that he had previously in a letter to me, threatened to kill me with it. He used to come around my house 2 or 3 in the morning.

Perhaps, also, see if you can find victim assistance people in your area, they are huge help and can give you a lot of tips for safety and whatnot. Stay safe and strong.

I believe you. I have been gang stalked by several professors in retaliation for a report of sexual harassment that I never made. (Another professor did it.) They have been burglarizing my home, tapped my phone, installed bugs, hacked my computer. That’s just the beginning…

The police view the public as being responsible for their own safety, and the stalking laws don’t give them much flexibility anyway–even if everyone knows who the stalker is! If you want to catch this sicko, you will have to gather the evidence yourself.

There is tons of information on the Internet on how to protect yourself from stalkers, even here at this site. See: http://www.sexualharassmentsupport.org/WhatToDoStalking.html

There are a number of companies that sell a wide variety of security devices, and methods for gathering evidence. You can install your own camera or burglar alarm pretty inexpensively. (Again, you can purchase these products right on the Internet.)

I strongly suggest you invest in a few of these devices to save your own sanity. Stalking is psychological warfare. Don’t let them win. –Jennifer

Thank you so much for your comments and advice. It is both comforting and sad to know I am not alone. And yes I had tried my own security devices but to no avail…he was just too unpredictable to catch.
It is interesting and scary to note that very early in the morning before the recent banging started I was on my way to work – only about 10 doors away, I saw a very unkempt man running across the front garden carrying a camcorder. He did a doble take at me and vice versa.
There has also been a recent spate of similar incidents in another part of Sydney.
I wish you all the best of luck..it is great there are places like this to vent and support each other. Thank you

My heart sank when I read your headline:( My fiance and I live on the 2nd floor of an apartment building. There is a guy in his late 20’s that lives below us with his mom or grandma(we haven’t figured it out yet). We’ve always kind of wondered about him because we will smell weed and he is always with her….no apparent job, no social life etc. He will wander the grounds with a guy that lives a few buildings down and we’ve seen talking with the maintenance guy frequently. Anyway, when we first moved here my perfume went missing. I am scatter brained at times and I honestly thought I lost it during our move. Then about a month later my hair product was missing. I actually accused my fiance of possibly cheating which I know is ridiculous but I didn’t see how I could “misplace” a giant tube of hair conditioner. Time passes, and now I can’t find my fave pair of black panties. I got out of the shower yesterday and another hair product is missing!!! I started to think I was absolutely going crazy and losing stuff. Now what I haven’t mentioned is that lately the neighbor guy has managed to be outside everytime I do my normal stuff…when I come home from work, when I leave for work…he will hold the door for me when I get groceries..it seems that lately when I go out he will be out when I get back. I mentioned to my fiance that maybe he is kind of stalking me. He offered to give me rain-x for my windshield because he heard my fiance get after me for putting wax on my car in the parking lot. My fiance laughed this off and still thinks I’m losing stuff. I’m starting to get scared. I guess reading your headline made me think that maybe my thoughts aren’t too far off. I’m sorry for what you are going through…that has to be soo scary. I wish you luck.

I am so sorry for what you are going through. We moved into our house about 4 years ago. Well, one night I was in the living room changing and I saw him looking through the window. My husband said that he didn’t mean anything. See he is deaf, and everyone thinks its ok for him to do what he wants. I noticed he was always around when I was outside. I starterd to stay at my grandmothers house everynight my husband was gone because I was scared. I have two children. Then about a year ago my friend was at my house and we were outside with the kids. He came over and asked if we wanted to sleep with him. Well he can’t talk so I brused it off thinking I missunderstood his hand gestures. Then about a month ago, I was taking the trash out and he came over and asked to go inside and have sex with him. This time I asked 3 times and told him to leave. He knows I am married and I think he likes that I’m scared of him. The cops just say to ignore him. Well thats easy for them. I make them write a report everytime incase he does do something. My husband works away and I am scared to death. So we are buying another house. I can’t take the chance he will come in one night and hurt my kids or me. I hope that they catch this guy and put him away. Maybe you can get a dog. or a gun. I pray for your safety and hope you catch this guy. Obvously he wont stop and it sounds like he is getting more violent. Good luck
